Burundi - ESIA, Bujumbura Port and Lake Tanganyika Transport Corridor Development Project

Bujumbura Port is the largest port in Burundi and on Lake Tanganyika (followed by the ports of Matulungu in Zambia, Kalémie in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Kigoma in Tanzania). The port was built in the 1950s and although its facilities and equipment are old, they are considered to be in a relatively good state of repair.
